OnePlus 7 Pro used by ace photographer to click cover image of National Geographic Magazine, makes history

National Geographic Cover photo shot on OnePlus
So, how good is the OnePlus 7 Pro camera? Apparently good enough for a pro photographer to use it to shoot the latest cover of the National Geographic Magazine. This is actually the first time that a phone has been used to shoot the cover image of the iconic Nat Geo magazine.
Earlier, OnePlus had revealed that its upcoming flagship phone was used to shoot the May covers of Harper’s Bazaar and GQ magazines.
For the July 2019 issue of the National Geographic Magazine, OnePlus collaborated with Nat Geo to test the OnePlus 7 Pro’s camera in diverse scenes. The National Geographic team picked up three of the world’s most renowned photographers-- Andy Bardon, Carlton Ward Jr. and Krystle Wright for the task. Equipped with the OnePlus 7 Pro, they went on an expedition to explore North America and capture some photographs that can be worthy of earning a spot in National Geographic Magazine.

The triple camera setup of the OnePlus 7 Pro did help the trio grab some really good looking photos for the magazine. In fact, this issue is going to carry a wide-angle vista shot on the OnePlus 7 Pro as its cover photo- this is the first time the National Geographic Magazine is going up with a cover photograph shot on a smartphone.
As for the photographers, they were quite impressed with the photographic abilities of the OnePlus 7 Pro. Krystle Wright, one of the National Geographic photographers, said, With the OnePlus 7 Pro, you have a whole camera bag in your pocket which is what has allowed us to be able to shoot a whole magazine issue on a smartphone.
After going through the results of the OnePlus 7 Pro’s tough challenge, CEO Pete Lau said, With the OnePlus 7 Pro, I believe we have raised the bar in camera technology. We wanted to push the limits of what our camera is capable of and we believe that the professional National Geographic photographers did just that. We are very excited to showcase the results from this partnership and hope that our users will be as excited about the camera on the OnePlus 7 Pro
By talking about the latest photoshoot, OnePlus indicates that the OnePlus 7 Pro’s camera is going to come with wide-angle lens. Earlier this month, Wired got hands-on with a pre-production version of the OnePlus 7 Pro and confirmed the presence of a telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom. The leaks suggest that a 48-megapixel primary camera with a Sony IMX586 sensor will complete the triple camera setup in the phone. The OnePlus 7 Pro will be unveiled on May 14 in a global launch event in Bengaluru along with the OnePlus 7. OnePlus has also confirmed Pop-Ups in several cities, starting from May 15, to let fans and community experience the OnePlus 7 Pro before purchasing.
